Pport Validity.. I am travelling to Italy from 8th-26th July. My pport expires on 1st October.?

You are planning to be there from 8-26 July. Your pport doesn't expire until more than 2 months after your planned return. This is more than enough to cover the "short period of extra validity" they recommend. You're fine.
