08 Land Rover LR2 HSE..Your thoughts?

I'm looking to get either a 2008 Land Rover LR2 HSE or a 2009 BMW 335xi Coupe. The Land Rover looks AMAZING, and I'd rather have that, however, I've been told that these trucks dont last long, their always in the shop, and maintenance is VERY expensive. Is this true? If you have any information on either car, it would be greatly appreciated. Going to pick one out on Friday.
