How does private landlord and dss work?

sorry to bring doom n gloom but a lot of landlords wont accept housing benefit,as its a lot of hle and most prefer hard cash and working tenants,but if you try"gumtree"(glasgow)go to flats for rent,you may find some,also your council office should have a list of landlords who accept dss,then its a case off looking at flat and filling out paperwork,you may be asked to provide references and also 1 months rent in advance,and possible a deposit,good luck
